Tips for Parents of children between 5-15 years of age

Tips for Parents of Children between 5-15 Years of Age
  1. Good investments in appropriate child growth plans can help to fund quality education after schooling.
  2. Take notice and fulfil the basic and essential necessities of your children (Do not indulge too much in external motivation factors such as a prize or gift for doing certain tasks).
  3. Take your children (with you) to parties and social gathering. This allows your child to open up with strangers and allows them to observe and explore the world outside home and school.
  4. Discuss your child’s weakness and potential areas of failure in private. Motivate them positively to allow them to grow and work on their weakness. Remember your positive support (like a pep talk, pat on the back, enjoying a success/achievement, etc.) will work wonders for your child.
  5. Take care of yours and your child’s health and fitness. A good diet and exercise regime will allow your child’s body be fit that (in turn) allows development of a healthy mind.
  6. Navigate your Child in the right direction. Be a leader and lead your child; at the same do not try to impose your desires and wishes on your child if the child is not interested in that particular activity.
  7. Act like a friend (Allow your child to openly talk about any topic with you, treat your child like a friend and explain concepts in a fun manner to get/remain connected to him/her)
  8. Be the source of inspiration and motivate your child for positive personal development. Remember that your child is always watching you at home. It is important for you (as a parent) to be congruent in what you say and what you do in front of your child.
  9. Do not compare your child’s abilities or performance with other children. Such comparisons may hurt your child and lower down his/her confidence. Talk to your child in private if you are unhappy about his/her performance.
  10. Do not impose your ‘Ways of Studying’. Children of different generations adapt to study pattern in a different way. For example: Studying at early hours (dawn) may be an earlier tradition, but nowadays studying late at night for exams works for a lot of kids.
  11. Avoid constantly repeating the study concerns or reminding tasks in the day. Your child may set his/her coping strategy and completely ignore you even while you may be sitting right besides him/her. Try to hold on to your thoughts and remind your child after long intervals.
  12. Spend more time with your child.
  13. Try to sense your child’s behaviour and body language to understand his/her needs at times when they cannot or do not wish to express.
  14. Allow your child to make ‘Mistakes’. With every mistake your child will learn a new way to avoid that mistake, as well as find other ways to grow and succeed.
  15. Avoid spoon-feeding your child. To allow your child to build his/her own character and values and belief set, it is important that you are not making your child dependent on your inputs every time. Allowing children to work independently and using their mind for making decisions for themselves, help them to mature quickly.

Tips for Time Management

Time management is a set of principles, practices, skills, tools and systems working together to help you get more value out of your time with the aim of improving the quality of your life.

Time is something that you need in order to do your work, accomplish your goals, spend time with your loved ones, and enjoy everything that life has to offer.

Time is a unique resource because you get the same amount as everyone else. Once it's gone, it's gone forever and you can never get it back. One thing that you CAN do with your time is change the way you use it.

Applying the powerful techniques of time management helps you:
  • Use your time to accomplish what you want.
  • Improve your productivity and accomplish more with less effort.
  • Make time for the things you want and value.
  • Find greater balance, fulfillment, and satisfaction.
  • Focus your time and energy on what is most important to you.
  • Set and achieve your long-term goals.
  • Reduce waste so you'll have more productive time each day.
  • Get things done while reducing anxiety, overwhelm, and stress.
  • Become an excellent time manager in all areas of your life.
Here are 15 practical time management tips to help you get started...
  1. Write things down: Using a to-do list to write things down is a great way to take control of your projects and tasks and keep yourself organized.
  2. Prioritize your list: Prioritizing your to-do list helps you focus and spend more of your time on the things that really matter to you. Rate your tasks into categories using the ABCD prioritization system described in the time management course.
  3. Plan your week: Spend some time at the beginning of each week to plan your schedule. Taking the extra time to do this will help increase your productivity and balance your important long-term projects with your more urgent tasks.
  4. Carry a notebook: You never know when you are going to have a great idea or brilliant insight. Carry a small notebook with you wherever you go so you can capture your thoughts.
  5. Learn to say no: Many people become overloaded with too much work because they over commit; they say yes when they really should be saying no. Learn to say no to low priority requests and you will free up time to spend on things that are more important.
  6. Think before acting: Before committing to a new task, stop to think about it before you give your answer. This will prevent you from taking on too much work.
  7. Continuously improve yourself: Make time in your schedule to learn new things and develop your natural talents and abilities. Continuously improving your knowledge and skills increases your marketability, can help boost your career, and is the most reliable path to financial independence.
  8. Think about what you are giving up to do your regular activities: It is a good idea to evaluate regularly how you are spending your time.
  9. Use a time management system: Using a time management system can help you keep track of everything that you need to do, organize and prioritize your work, and develop sound plans to complete it. An integrated system is like glue that holds all the best time management practices together.
  10. Identify bad habits: Make a list of bad habits that are stealing your time, sabotaging your goals, and blocking your success. After you do, work on them one at a time and systematically eliminate them from your life. Remember that the easiest way to eliminate a bad habit, it to replace it with a better habit.
  11. Don’t do other people’s work: Doing this takes up time that you may not have. Instead, focus on your own projects and goals, learn to delegate effectively, and teach others how to do their own work.
  12. Keep a goal journal: Schedule time to set and evaluate your goals. Start a journal and write down your progress for each goal. Go through your goal journal each week to make sure you are on the right track.
  13. Don’t be a perfectionist: Some tasks don’t require your best effort. Learn to distinguish between tasks that deserve to be done excellently and tasks that just need to be done.
  14. Beware of “filler” tasks: When you have a to-do list filled with important tasks, be careful not to get distracted by “filler” tasks. Things such as organizing your bookcase or filing papers can wait until you tackle the items that have the highest priority.
  15. Avoid “efficiency traps”: Being efficient doesn’t necessarily mean that you are being productive. Avoid taking on tasks that you can do with efficiency that don’t need to be done at all. Just because you are busy and getting things done doesn’t mean you are actually accomplishing anything significant.

Top 10 Tips for Self-Motivation

No one can motivate anyone to do anything. All a person can do for another is provide them with incentives to motivate themselves. Here are some very effective strategies to help you get up and get moving toward actualizing your enormous, untapped potential.

TOP 10 TIPS FOR SELF-MOTIVATION

·      Be willing to leave your comfort zone. The greatest barrier to achieving your potential is your comfort zone. Great things happen when you make friends with your discomfort zone.

·      Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Wisdom helps us avoid making mistakes and comes from making a million of them.

·       Don’t indulge in self-limiting thinking. Think empowering, expansive thoughts.

·       Choose to be happy. Happy people are easily motivated. Happiness is your birthright so don’t settle for anything else.

·       Spend at least one hour a day in self-development. Read good books or listen to inspiring tapes. Driving to and from work provides an excellent opportunity to listen to self-improvement tapes.

·       Train yourself to finish what you start. So many of us become scattered as we try to accomplish a task. Finish one task before you begin another.

·       Live fully in the present moment. When you live in the past or the future you aren’t able to make things happen in the present.

·       Never quit when you experience a setback or frustration. Success could be just around the corner.

·       Dare to dream big dreams. If there is anything to the law of expectation then we are moving in the direction of our dreams, goals and expectations.

·      The real tragedy in life is not in how much we suffer, but rather in how much we miss, so don’t miss a thing.

Charles Dubois once said, “We must be prepared, at any moment, to sacrifice who we are for who we are capable of becoming.”
