Passing Board Exams (10th or 12th) Privately – Good or Bad?

Many times we come across advertisements in the form of pamphlets, hordings, TV and radio Ads, assuring people to help them pass their SSC/CBSE/HSC privately. However are these claims true? If yes then is giving 10^th or 12^th board exams privately advisable?
 

Let us take two cases:-

 

Case 1: Students who have passed their 10^th or 11^th and want to give 12^th privately without attending regular school or college.

• If a student has passed 10^th, and for some reason was not able to pursue studies, the student can give 12^th directly anytime. (Note: for giving 12^th through correspondence there should be atleast 1 yr gap between passing the 10^th & appearing for the 12^thexams)
• The student can approach a private agency or directly a college for registration as a private candidate for HSC or equivalent 12^th board. Just make sure the private agency involved registers you as a private candidate from a recognized & affiliated college. The mark sheet which a student will obtain is same as a regular student would get, also the student must take a Leaving certificate (LC) of that particular college under which s/he appeared the HSC board. After this the student can apply in for any of the degree colleges.

 

Case 2: Students who have failed 10^th and want to give their 12^th or for those who have failed their 10^th or 12^th and want to reappear but privately.

• If a student has failed 10^th it is important for him/her to re-appear for the examinations clear the 10^th & then pursue further. Under no circumstances will a student be able to clear 12^th if s/he has not cleared his/her 10^th.

• Students getting admission in 11^th on 10^th ATKT:10^th failed student can fill the admission form for 11^th regular junior college, if s/he has failed in 1 or 2 subjects. This admission depends on the college, its cut off & the availability of seats. The student will have clear the 10^th exam before being allowed to appear for HSC.

In conclusion it can be said that giving 10^th or 12^th privately involves no potential risk if given through recognized and affiliated school/colleges. However regular college is always advisable as it not only gives a student social exposure but also prepares him/her for vigorous, scheduled & structured learning, which helps them to pursue further degree courses.

NMIMS Management Aptitude Test - NMAT 2013

NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT 2013)

NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is the official entrance exam to enter SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute Of Management Studies (School Of Business Management). NMIMS offers a wide range of MBA programs, both general management and specialised areas, to suit industry requirements and make a student future ready.

Programs Offered are:

MBA: 360 seats

MBA Banking: 60 seats

MBA Capital Market: 60 seats

MBA HR: 30 seats

MBA Pharmaceutical Management: 120 seats

PGDM – Bengaluru Campus: 120 seats

PGDM – Hyderabad Campus: 60 seats

Admissions to all these programs are through NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) followed by Group Discussions & Personal Interview. NMAT is conducted in a time frame of 3 months, allowing choice of two retakes to the students should any of them wish to. In such cases, the best of three scores will be considered.

Admission Schedule :-  NMAT 2013

The schedule & registration charges for NMAT is as under:

Registration:  11th July, 2012 to 25th September, 2012     

Late Registration: 26th September, 2012 to 4th October, 2012

Scheduling: 19th July, 2012 to 5th October, 2012

Rescheduling: 19th July, 2012 to 17th December, 2012

Test Delivery: 11th October, 2012 to 19th December, 2012

Retake Scheduling: 11th October, 2012 to 17th December, 2012

Pearson VUE will carry out the online registration & will conduct NMAT on behalf of NMIMS. Interested candidates have to visit the NMIMS website for online registration. For appearing for NMAT online application has to be duly submitted & payment of registration charges need to be made in any of the prescribed mode i.e. Credit card, Cash at Bank or Demand Draft within stipulated time.

Eligibility Criteria For Admission:

MBA / MBA Banking / MBA Capital Market

• Full Time Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt.
• The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree.
• Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part-time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

MBA HR (Selection process is separate)

• Full Time Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt.
• The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree.
• Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part-time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

MBA Pharmaceutical Management (Selection process is separate)

• Full Time Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3/4) in Pharmacy, Science, Life Sciences, Medical doctors MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, B.Sc and M.Sc in Biotechnology from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt. Post Graduate degree in Economics, Psychology and Sociology can also apply.
• The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree.
• Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part-time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
• Candidates with B.Tech & B.E in Bio Tech & Bio – Medical are also eligible to apply.
• Candidates presently working in Pharmaceutical Companies for more than a year are preferred.

PGDM – Bengaluru campus / PGDM – Hyderabad campus

• Full Time Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt.
• The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree.
• Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part-time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.

Structure of the Test:

NMAT would be an objective type multiple-choice test. (There will be no descriptive type questions).

The NMAT will comprise the following:

Language Skills: 32 Questions in 22 minutes

Quantitative Skills:  48 Questions in 60 minutes

Logical Reasoning: 40 Questions in 38 minutes

Total: 120 Questions in 120 minutes

The candidate should note that it is important for them to perform well relative to other candidates in each of the 3 sections of the test as the score of each section and the overall  score will be used to shortlist the candidate for the second stage of the selection process as well as in the final ranking.  Please note that there will be no negative marking.

Note: If the candidate is not satisfied by his/her NMAT score in the first attempt he/she may schedule for Re-take NMAT by visiting www.pearsonvue.com/nmims and logging in with the allotted username and password. In case of candidates taking more than one attempt the best score which is the total score & its respective sectional score, which make the candidate eligible as per the cut offs declared by NMIMS, will be considered for short listing for subsequent process. (Cut off means sectional as well as total score). The scores of all the attempts taken by the candidate will be declared on the NMIMS website.
