Before seeking admission in any college it is necessary that you verify the present status of the institution and prospective status in the years to come. You will be digging a pit for yourself in case you join a college that is not recognized. There are always chances of these colleges being closed and their license getting cancelled by the local authorities. Sometimes, colleges who have applied for licenses, but know that they do not stand a chance of getting license may sell seats giving students the hope that the licenses are on the way. Therefore, it is mandatory to verify the authenticity of the college and find out whether it is the right one for you.

You can find out if your college is authorized by checking with the national education bodies and local authorities. Every college is accredited with a national education board as well as a local state run university, unless the college is part of a private university. Colleges usually have a mention of these authorities on various documents and admission forms. If you discover something missing, verify with the government authorities in your state.

Another thing that you need to know before seeking admission in any college is to know the availability of the courses. If your favorite college does not offer the preferred educational program, it would not make sense.
