All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) 2012

The Veterinary Council of India (VCI) will conduct the All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) 2012 on 12th May 2012. This exam is a gateway for admission to Bachelors of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Courses (B.VSc. & AH) for the academic year 2012-13. The exam will be conducted by VCI to fill the 15% seats in governmental veterinary colleges. The duration of B.VSc. & AH degree course is spread over five complete academic years including a compulsory rotating internship of six months.

Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible for this exam, candidates should be Indian and candidates from state of Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible to appear for this exam as the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 has not been extended to this state.
Candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Minimum marks for SC/ST and OBCs is 40%.
Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2012. Those attaining seventeen years on 1st January, 2013 or later will not be eligible for the admission.


Pattern of AIPVT:
It will be an objective type multiple choice paper and the duration of the exam will be 3 hours. This exam will cover the topics from PCB and the students will have to answer 200 questions in the prescribed time. It will be conducted in English language only and there will be negative marking for every wrong answer.

Registration Window:
Last date to register for the exam is 15th February, 2012 and students who belong to far flung areas like Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Lakshadweep and many others can submit the forms by March 3, 2012.

Application process:

Candidate can obtain the application form from Registrars of State Veterinary Councils on payment of Rs.1200/- for GC/OBC and Rs.600/- for SC/ST candidates through DD in favour of “Veterinary Council of India Examination Fund” payable at New Delhi on any scheduled bank. Applicants can also obtain the form from the branches of Vijaya Bank branches across India. Or candidates can obtain the application form from by sending written request by post at Veterinary Council of India, A Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi – 110066 with DD of Rs.1250/- for GC/OBC candidates and Rs.650/- for SC/ST candidates.
